Forest Park Middle School Referendum
Vote on Tuesday, November 8th 2016
On November 8th, Franklin voters will decide the future of the Forest Park Middle School (along with associated impact to district elementary schools, including Pleasant View). The ballot question will appear as such:
"Shall the Franklin Public School District, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $43,300,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of constructing a new middle school on District land; tearing down Forest Park Middle School; site improvements; and acquisition of equipment, furnishings and fixtures?"
If the referendum should pass, one of the largest impacts to Pleasant View would be be the capacity that is created. The new middle school will house 6th, 7th, and, 8th graders - which in turn means Pleasant View (and the other 4 elementary schools in the district) would become K-5.
This change would allow for better program choices for the students, and better utilization of space for the PV staff.
We would like to invite all families to the November 3rd PTO meeting at 6:30 pm. School Superintendent Dr. Steve Patz will be there to discuss the referendum along with its impact to Pleasant View and the Franklin community.
